Library
The Library is available to the children for borrowing books. It is
the central resource area for the school. In order to borrow from the
library students need to bring a waterproof library bag each time they
wish to exchange books.
Each class has a weekly lesson with the teacher librarian. This is when
children may return and borrow books. The library is also open all lunch
time.
Books seriously damaged or lost are to be replaced by the parents.

Active After School Sports Programme
The school runs a highly successful Active After School Sports
program with over 100 children regularly attending. This encourages
children to participate in an active lifestyle. It runs on Monday and
Thursday afternoons from 3.30 – 4.30 pm. Children are given afternoon
tea and then participate in fun activities which encourage physical
activity and game development. If you would like your child to
participate, further details and permission forms are available from the
school office.
School Band
The children in Years 3-6 can choose to join the school band.
Singleton Public School has two bands, a Training Band and a Concert
Band. The
band performs regularly at school and community events producing high
quality music. All children who belong to the band must have private
music lessons. Some music teachers offer these lessons at our school.
Information on how to join the band is available from the school.

Singleton Dads' Home Reading Programme
Our school participates in the Singleton Dads’ Home Reading Program.
All children in Kindergarten 2007 have access to beautiful, high
quality home reading books. These can be taken home each night and read
to parents. We encourage dads to read these books with their children
and have run workshops to help dads to better understand the reading
processwith all other primary schools in Singleton. In 2008 further books will be purchased for children in Year 1
and again in 2009 and 2010 for children in Years 2 and 3.
This program has been made possible through the kind generosity of
Xstrata Coal who are contributing $320,000 over four years to purchase
home reading books for all the schools in Singleton.
